Wednesday College Basketball Preview

There a boatload of great games tonight, with the best being covered by ESPN's Rivalry Week. The top two teams in the country are not playing today, but most of the top 25 is in action tonight.  Let's take a look at the three matchups featuring two ranked teams.

UNC at Duke: The best rivalry in college basketball, and arguably of all sports, put the ACC lead on the line.  Three weeks ago, most experts would've predicted a blowout, but the resurgence of the Tar Heels makes this a competitive matchup.  UNC and Duke matchup similarly, as they rely heavily on perimeter shooting and it shouldn't change tonight.  UNC has the opportunity to pull off this upset, but Duke is poised to not let that happen.

Prediction: UNC 79 - Duke 78

Louisville at Notre Dame: This game could come down to health, as Preston Knowles of Louisville may not play.  Despite that, Louisville has the fire power to compete with Notre Dame.  Ben Hansbrough is playing out of his mind and has thrown himself into talks of the Player of the Year candidate.  He is running this Notre Dame team with efficiency and playing great defense.  I honestly think Notre Dame is just much better than Louisville and that this game could be relatively easy for the Fighting Irish.

Prediction: Notre Dame 80 - Louisville 67

Georgetown at Syracuse: Yet another Big East heavyweight battle.  Georgetown is playing its best basketball of the season, but Syracuse stopped their skid last week and is finally showing us why they were a top 5 team just three weeks ago.  This game will be won down low, as  Georgetown must stop Rick Jackson.  This game will be played in Syracuse and that will play a factor in the outcome of this game.

Prediction: Syracuse 83 - Georgetown 72
